Maureen Kennedy at Opal Jazz Lounge

Feb 1 - Feb 3 2007VOCALIST MAUREEN KENNEDYEntertainment Charge: $12.00(Sets at 8, 9:30, & 11 PM)Vocalist Maureen Kennedy developed her love for jazz while studying with Canadian trumpeter Fred Stone. It was during this six year periods that she developed the purity of her sound and her restrained use of vibrato. She is one of the rare jazz vocalists who evokes the simplicity and directness of jazz greats such as Irene Krall and Helen Merrill. Through the years she has cultivated an extensive repertoire of memorable standards and rediscovered gems that compliment her very personal sound. This is evident in her debut recording ‘This Is Always’ which features a selection of classic standards including rarely recorded compositions by Billy Strayhorn, Jimmy Van Heusen, Alex Wilder and Antonio Carlos Jobim.Maureen is accompanied this week by pianist Gary Williamson and violinist San Muratawww.maureenkennedy.com
